Slovakia played a friendly boxlacrosse match with Austria

Yesterday, a friendly match as a preparation for the Boxlacrosse World Championships in Vancouver, where our boys, Bratislava Bats, invited the selection of Austria. The Austrian boys are mainly playing Field lakrosse and only this year are more interested in Boxlacrosse, on the other hand the selection of Slovakia also had a few players who played for the first time.

In the first half of the match, our home boys were clearly better off when they managed to get a few goals from the start. However, the Austrian selection was furious and as soon as ours did not fight or made a fundamental mistake in the defense they received a goal. In the second quarter, we tried to push for quick breaks, but they did not always come out and we did not get much of a fight in the attack. Nor did it help that Denis Engliš, one of the strikers of the attack, only injured the first half when injured.

Our boys may have missed one of the main strikers because they did not get anywhere in the third quarter. Austria constantly pushed and punished every mistake. In the attack it was no better when we failed to shoot four times within a time limit of 30 seconds. Austria was definitely better in this quarter and even managed to lead 9: 8.

In the last quarter, however, our boys again calmed down, started playing their game and Austria did not let go of another goal. We managed to make a few quick and nice fast break with a pass through the whole field, so we got into the lead. The Slovak boys finally won 12:9.

We thank the Austrian representation and we are looking forward to another preparatory match.
