FIRST PRACTISE
First practice in new year was about freeze, snow, sun and TRICKSTERS
players. Some of dedicated Tricksters (also national players) have met on Sunday
morning on Ladislava Novomeského high school field. Players met for the first
time in 2012, and practice was mainly oriented on basic skills and loosing a few
pound after delicious meals, snacks and family members visits.
Right away on a first practice we got together with Boris Stankovič and we
asked him a few questions.
Something about Boris. Boris plays lacrosse for 5 years. He is long stick
midfielder. We attended European field championship 2006, World field
championship 2010 and World box championship 2011.
1. Hello Boris. How was your first practice in 2012?
I had a really good time today. After long pause between holidays some of us
gained some weight, and this is a good way to loose them. But the conditions
were great. Cold, snow and wind. Just awesome.
2. Do you think that conditions like this can be better for team
building?
Of course. It is about that dedication to go after you look outside of a window
and see weather like this. Personally, I don’t like going to practice when
weather is bad. But when I do start practicing, they are the best.
3. What are your goals for this year?
This year we have a pretty big goal – Amsterdam. We need to get as best as
possible, so we will have some good results.
4. What would you add to our practice routine?
Well, we just started, so I cant tell. Maťo, our coach surely has some drills
for us. So we will see.
5. How well are you motivated for this year?
I am pumped. Amsterdam is a big deal. And also, I have a personal motivation,
and that is that my brother started playing with us again. He started with me,
but he played for only about a year. I hope he will stay longer this time.
6. What do you think, do you have any weaknesses? And if so, what would
you do to get rid of them?
Well, stamina could be better, but we are working on it.
7. Lets get back to European championship. How would you motivate team,
if it was in your power?
I wouldn’t do any mandatory team related gatherings. In team, friendship
comes first, and then its about game. When somebody orders you to go somewhere,
you wont have a good time.
8. Last one is a little bit mean question. Do you think that you do
enough on your own? Are you happy with your progress on your own?
No I am not. I can do a lot more. But sometimes I don’t have time, energy
or just will to do some drills on my own. And maybe it because I am a little
bit lazy.
