World Lacrosse Championships - Manchester, England (14th- 24th July 2010) www.2010worldlacrosse.com
First-ever participation of the Slovak national lacrosse team at the World Championships was led by head coach Ed Kostolansky. Part of the team was prepared under the guidance of coaches in Slovakia while other players prepared in the U.S.A and Canada. The Slovak national lacrosse team was constructed to compete the best in the competition of all countries participating in the World Cup. Historically, championship in Manchester, England were 11th of its kind, with the largest participation of all the championships with the attendance of 30 countries around the world. Slovaks were placed symbolically in the orange group, together with high-tournament favorite Ireland, South Korea and Switzerland.
The Slovak national team finished on beautiful 17th place, with five wins and two looses and only because of the championship system teams with opposite score finished higher than team of Slovakia. Even thou 17th place is a tremendous success for the Slovak lacrosse.
For the upcoming 2014 World Cup in U.S.A Colorado, we all hope that Slovak national team won’t just attend, but also place at a higher rank.
